We warmly welcome your child to Year 6!
This half term in Year 6, we will be learning lots of interesting things! In English this half term, the children will be doing a lot of writing. They will be reading a story called, ‘Explorer,’ by Katherine Rundell. This story provides lots of interesting writing opportunities. The children will also be doing lots of SPAG and comprehension activities. The children will also compete weekly spelling tests.
In Maths this half term, the children will be practising a lot of number work. We will cover: place value, the four main operations (+,-,x,÷), fractions, decimals and percentages, converting measurements, 3D shapes and angles.
In Geography this half term, we will be answering the question, ‘What is life like in the Amazon?’ We will locate the Amazon, discuss the difference in climate between the Amazon and U.K, find out what Manaus is like, investigate what communities there are in rainforest and think about how can we protecting the Amazon.
In Science, the children will be investigating animals including humans, they will be completing work about the circulatory system. The children will look at the different parts of the circulatory system and learn about the jobs for each part.
We will be very busy learning and also having lots of fun!
