Year 4 2024 - 2025
Ms Edge
Welcome to Year 4
Class Teacher: Mrs Richardson
Teaching Assistant: Miss Dunnett
Year Four marks an exciting phase of growth and discovery for our students. In year 4 students dive deeper into subjects. We emphasize the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, encouraging students to ask questions and explore new ideas. With a balanced approach we will combine structured learning with fun and engaging activities.
We look forward to supporting your child’s journey and celebrating their successes throughout the year.
Autumn 1
This half term the children will have the opportunity to settle into their new classroom, get to know their new teachers and engage in a variety of exciting and challenging learning experiences.
During their English lessons, the children will read two texts- ‘The Wolf’s Footprint’ by Susan Price and ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes. They will have lots of opportunities to explore these texts and complete different pieces of writing about them.
In maths, the children will be focusing on place value in a four-digit number (thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones).
We will also be looking at the TT Rockstar baseline assessment. This will help determine your child’s current level and identify what they need to prepare for the Timetables test towards the end of the year.
In science, the children will be exploring the question, ‘What is the digestive system?’ They will complete different types of interesting investigations, discussions and research in these lessons.
The children will also have weekly Computing, Geography, Latin, Music, Design & Technology, RHE, Religious Education (RE) and Physical Education (PE) lessons to enjoy.
